This comes from the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, whose stories are always great. EPIC tells the story of little creatures who have an ongoing battle between the forces of good, who keep the natural world alive (in this case meaning green, blooming and growing of plants in the forest), and the forces of evil, who wish to destroy it through decay, greyness and plants all withering and dying in the forest.
A teenage girl, voiced very well by Amanda Seyfried, goes to live with her father (who got dumped by her Mom for believing in and trying to discover the little beings) finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she teams up with an elite band of warriors and a crew of comical, larger-than-life figures, to save their world...and ours. And realizes that Dad was right all along!
This family animated flick also stars Beyoncé Knowles, Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Christoph Waltz. Since you're paying extra for it, you'll like to know the 3-D is good but the story is not as stong as RIO or the ICE AGE franchise.
As usual, the kids rated it 5 stars, I give it 2 and a half for the slow moving parts.
