Today is Friday, December 21st...and on this day in rock history in 1970, Elvis Presley went to the White House to volunteer his services to U.S. President Nixon on fighting the nation's drug problems.
He gave Nixon a chrome-plated Colt .45 and Tricky Dick gave Elvis a Narcotics Bureau badge.
Of course, a lot has changed since then. These days, I doubt that any rock musician would get anywhere NEAR a president with a Colt .45. And I bet they would require a "sample in a jar" and a major background check before issuing one of those Narcotics Bureau badges.
In any event, it makes for some funny moments in today's edition of the Morning Brew-HaHa this morning at 7:15. We'll re-visit Pinkard and Bowden, who you may have discovered years ago on ROCK103.
And in case you miss it...here's a video version from YouTube. Enjoy!
