Simply tuning across the FM dial on any given morning in Memphis tells the story: There's a LOT of talk...and not enough ROCK. Seriously now. It's like everybody's trying to out-talk each other. I'm pleased to say that we won't be participating in that "Morning Fillibuster".
We get a lot of requests at the radio station...and sometimes, the request is simply "Shut up and play some rock & roll." That's exactly what we're going to do.
I'm Brian Jay, your host for a musical journey designed to get you to work on time...and in a much better mood. The approach is simple: Hire a real MEMPHIAN to play songs you know and love. Skip over the idle chatter and gossipy stuff that you really don't care about. And if we're going to talk, let's talk about things that matter to MEMPHIS.
I grew up listening to the early days of Rock 103 in my misspent teenage years and have fond memories of how good radio sounded back then. Around 1996, I landed a job at Rock 103 doing Nights & Weekends. I later went on to become producer of the Wake Up Crew, so I know just how awesome they were. But chemistry like that is really hard to find. Magic like that just doesn't happen all the time.
So for now, we're going to let the music do the talking...as it was in the very beginning. We'll give you frequent traffic updates to get you to work on time...and talk about things that matter to you. The "Shut up and Rock" Morning Show is on the air. Tell your friends.
