  • "Shut Up and Play Some Rock & Roll!"

Simply tuning across the FM dial on any given morning in Memphis tells the story:  There's a LOT of talk...and not enough ROCK.  Seriously now.  It's like everybody's trying to out-talk each other.  I'm pleased to say that we won't be participating in that "Morning Fillibuster".

We get a lot of requests at the radio station...and sometimes, the request is simply "Shut up and play some rock & roll."  That's exactly what we're going to do.

I'm Brian Jay, your host for a musical journey designed to get you to work on time...and in a much better mood.  The approach is simple:  Hire a real MEMPHIAN to play songs you know and love. Skip over the idle chatter and gossipy stuff that you really don't care about.  And if we're going to talk, let's talk about things that matter to MEMPHIS.

I grew up listening to the early days of Rock 103 in my misspent teenage years and have fond memories of how good radio sounded back then.  Around 1996, I landed a job at Rock 103 doing Nights & Weekends.  I later went on to become producer of the Wake Up Crew, so I know just how awesome they were.  But chemistry like that is really hard to find. Magic like that just doesn't happen all the time.

So for now, we're going to let the music do the talking...as it was in the very beginning.  We'll give you frequent traffic updates to get you to work on time...and talk about things that matter to you.  The "Shut up and Rock" Morning Show is on the air.  Tell your friends.

On Air
  • Amnesia Theater
    Weekdays at 8:45am

Songs you know by heart from the times you can't remember

I was talking to one of my friends the other day, and he said "Man, I love it when you guys play a song I haven't heard in forever...it's a great feeling.  It's like recovering from amnesia or something."  And so Amnesia Theater was born.

After a move from Lamar Ave to Beale Street to our current location in East Memphis...after a change of ownership or two....after going through several Program Directors Consultants, and General Managers, it's easy to see how some things might have been misplaced in the 'ol "out of control room".

Every weekday at 8:45am, we'll fire up the FLASHBACK MACHINE for a journey into ROCK 103's past.  We'll re-live old Memphis memories, dust off some "lost classics", play some songs that slipped through the cracks, and even plug in that old turntable in the closet if necessary.

Amnesia Theater:  Conveniently located in the State of Mind.  Because sometimes, flashbacks can be fun.

Amnesia Theater is heard weekdays at 8:45am (unless we forget to do it or something.)
